Welcome to Collin's Cool Collection

Hi, my name is Collin. I am extremely excited about meeting new friends on my blog!

I wanted to share a few things about myself.  First of all, I absolutely love sports!  My favorites are basketball, baseball, and football.

Additionally, I like playing video games.   NBA 2K13, Mario Kart, Madden13, Deca Sports, and Wii Sports are a few I play often.

I love to blog on  Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog!

My family and I enjoy traveling.   So far, my favorite trips have been to Italy, Germany, Lake Tahoe in California, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and Hawaii.  One day I would like to travel to Brazil and Anarctica.

If there is a certain subject you would like me to discuss,  please leave me a comment and tell me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

    1. Dear Anonymous,

I think the 49ers are going to win the Super Bowl this year. If they don't make it to the Super Bowl this year, I will not cheer for anyone else. Did you know that the coach for the 49ers and the Ravens are brothers? Who do you want to win the Super Bowl? Do you know why the 49ers are called the 49ers?

      Sincerely,
      Collin

    2. Dear Collin,

I agree with your prediction of the San Francisco 49ers winning this year's Super Bowl. At least, I really hope they win!

In 1849 gold was discovered all over Northern California (near San Francisco). People migrated west from all over the United States to strike it rich by finding gold! These people were nicknamed 49ers, which is how the San Francisco 49ers received their team name.

      Sincerely,
      Shannon

  4. Dear Collin,

It is amazing that Collin (also known as you), Mallory, Abbey and Heather got your own blog. My hobby's are like yours they are playing baseball and alpha smarting. You like sports and video games. I like video games even though they are not one of my hobby's. I play football, not on a team but in general. I love baseball, I have been playing baseball since I was four years old! I have a Basketball game in approximately five hours. My team is the Bulldogs. I played your team the Bruins, but you were not at the game. The final score was thirty to twenty Bruins. You said that if somebody cut are heads off we would not know who's who because our jersey number is the same, our number is 23. The color of the jersey is the same too, gold and yellow.

I am impressed that you got your own blog. I hope I get one soon. That would be neat.

    Sincerely,

    Bryce

    1. Dear Bryce,

Thank you for commenting on my blog.

It is funny that our teams are the same color and I have the same number as you. But if we really cut our heads off we would not be able to see anything!

If you get your own blog what would you name it?

      Sincerely,
      Collin

    2. Dear Collin,

I never thought of that. If we got our heads cut off, we would not be able to see.

If I got my own blog I would name it Bryce's Best Blog.

What was the final score of one of your games?

      Sincerely,

      Bryce

  5. Dear Collin,

It is so cool that you got your own blog!

I have also been to Germany. My family and I went to Aachen, Germany. It was very amazing to see such a different culture than ours. We also went to Holland, Paris, and we stayed in Belgium. We also went to many castles. One of the castles that I went to was a tourture castle.

Have you gone to any castles? If so, what were they like?

    Sincerly,
    Keira

    1. Dear Keira,

Thank you for commenting on blog.
You asked if I have been to any castles. I enjoyed visiting Neuschwanstein Castle in southern Germany. This castle is huge and the tour guide told us some facts that many people don't know. In fact, Walt Disney designed Sleeping Beauty's castle at Disneyland after it.
      Were the torture castles scary?
      Sincerely,
      Collin

    2. @ Collin,

Yes, the torture castle was scary. In fact, it had a room that they cut your head off in. They also had many other ways to torture you. I would not like to be alive in the time that people lived in it.

Would you like to be alive in the time that people lived in it?

      Sincerely,
      Keira

  6. Dear Collin,

Congratulations on earning your own blog! I have enjoyed reading your first post and was impressed at how many places you have already visited at such a young age. Where will you go next?

I am a parent of 2 former students of Mrs. Yollis who also earned their own blogs. It has been a fantastic experience and I hope this hobby stays with you for many years to come. I look forward to reading your future posts.

    Best,
    Victoria

    1. Dear Victoria,

Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. Your kids were really lucky to get Mrs. Yollis as a teacher and win their own blogs. What are the names of their blogs?

The next place I will go is camping on the beach and we are also planning on going to go to the Bahamas.

      Sincerely,
      Collin

    2. We were very lucky to get Mrs. Yollis (twice). She is an amazing teacher and it sounds like you are having a great year. My kids blogs are Miriam's Magical Moment and Come Somersault with Sarah. They are listed in the student blog list on Mrs. Yollis' blog.

Your next vacation spot sounds fantastic. I hope you will take many pictures and write about your future trips.

      Best,

  7. Dear Collin,

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! Like your dad said, you have worked very hard to earn this blog and I am exceeding proud of your efforts! Well done, Collin!

I like the alliterative title you have chosen for your blog. In addition, the fabulous photo you selected as a background looks like a road to travel. You wrote about how much you like to travel, I think that might be why you chose this picture. Am I correct?

The gadgets you've chosen are also terrific. I added a "Follow by Email" gadget to your sidebar. Anyone who subscribes, like I did, will get an email every time you publish a post. I invite your readers to do the same!

The next step would be to add some student bloggers and class blogs to a blog roll. I use the "List" gadget, but with your parents help, you can create one. I'll show all of you on Tuesday if you need some help.

I enjoy traveling too. One of the best places I ever visited was Machu Pichu in Peru. It was an ancient city where the Inca used to live, and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Inca ruins. I also spent several months in Spain when I was first teaching. It was exciting to learn about a new culture.

What topics do you think you will write about on your blog? Do you have any rough ideas?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  8. Dear Collin,

    Congratulations on earning your blog!

We have some things in common. I too have learned quite a bit about blogging from Mrs. Yollis; I enjoy sports; and, I've traveled to the same places. I've also traveled to Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Greece, Switzerland, France, and England. It's been twenty years since I've traveled that far, but hope to go again one of these days. Where in Brazil would you like to travel? What would you like to see?

    Kind regards,
    Mrs. Watanabe

Congratulations of getting your own blog, it will be a wonderful thing for you to allow people from around the world to see your great work. You are also incredibly lucky to have Mrs Yollis as a teacher. Thousands of people will see you work this year.

I'm a classroom teacher from New Zealand, which is the closet country to Antarticia, so that might be a place for you to visit in the future as well.

Our students (who are currently on their summer break as its literally the middle of Summer here in the Southern Hempisphere) are back at the end of this month. One of the things that our students absolutely love is playing sport, which I see that you have listed as one of your favourite things. So I would be interestted (as I am sure my students would also be interested in) you writing about sports, what you like and what you play.

  11. Dear Colin,

What a neat blog! I like your screen on the outside of your blog. We have something in common, we both like video games. Here are some of the games I like: Skylanders Giants, Kinect Sports Season 1 and 2, Just Dance, and Wipe Out 3.

Do you like any of the games like?

    Happy blogging!

    1. Dear Peter,

Thank you for complimenting my background. Mrs. Yollis made a good point. She said that it looks like the roads I travel on.

Some of the games you play I have never heard of, but I enjoy playing Wipe out and Skylanders as well.

Who is your favorite character on Skylanders?

      Sincerely,
      Collin

  13. Dear Collin,

First of all, your grandpa and I are very proud of your blogging accomplishments! You must feel very lucky to be a student in Mrs. Yollis's class and have the opportunity to learn in such a "hands-on" environment.

I can attest to the fact that you are a definite sports fan. I remember you throwing basketballs around in your house when you were just a little guy!

You are also a very good traveler. Do you remember driving around in Germany's Black Forest with the GPS (or "Aunt Sybil" as we called her) telling Frank, "caution", "caution" in her English accent? I liked that you tried to speak a few German words with the people we met in restaurants. I think they really appreciated your effort! It was funny, too, when we all went to eat and you ordered water "without gas" which was exactly the correct way to order, but I laughed because I had never heard the expression before. Do you think that you would like to learn a second language? I know that you have a good ear for languages and a willingness to learn, so it is something you may want to think about.

I do not know who WILL win the Super Bowl, but I know who I WANT to win...the 49ers, of course! It will be interesting to watch the coaches of the two teams since they are both named Harbaugh because they happen to be brothers! Do you think it would be hard to play such an important game against a family member? I am looking forward to the game, and I know that you are, too! Until then, keep up the good work!

    Love,
    Grammy

  14. Dear Collin,

Congraglation Collin you finally earned your own blog!

I like that you put a lot of effort into it. You have high level words and a great photo. I can tell you like basketball, but I don't see your face. That is good for the Internet. No one needs to see what you look like.

How many baskets can you make in a game?

    Sincerely,
    Ali
