My Trip To Hawaii

Over the summer, my family and I took a beautiful trip to Hawaii. Their main islands are called Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Niihau, and Kahoolawe. We stayed on the island of Oahu. First we stayed in the North Shore then we stayed in Ko Olina. We saw many green sea turtles and monk seals. Monk seals are an endangered species of seals only found on the Hawaiian Islands. We went surfing. It was my first time surfing without my Dad helping me. Surfing is very entertaining to do. We also went snorkeling. We saw some butterflyfish, trumpetfish, humuhumunukunukuapua`as, pufferfish, tangs, parrotfish, and many more.

  1. Aloha Collin!

What a fabulous trip you had to Hawaii! I am envious!

Hawaii is one of my favorite states to visit. I love to surf, snorkel, and be at the beach. In fact, you might remember that I made a video of my time under the sea. Here is a link to refresh your memory:

What was your favorite reef fish?

Do you know any state facts about Hawaii? (State flower, motto, or tree?)

  2. Dear Collin,

Great Post! We also went to Hawaii this summer, but visited Maui. I am really glad that you got to see so many fish and turtles. Which fish was your favorite? My kids like the humu fish the best because it is really colorful and it is fun to say its long name. Was this your first time in Hawaii? Do you want to go again?

I hope you have a great start to your school year.

    Best,
    Victoria

  3. Dear Collin,

Aloha! Your pictures from the video are terrific!

I have never visited the Hawaiian Islands though I really wish to.

Pua Aloalo, otherwise known as yellow hibiscus, is Hawaii's state flower. It is a beautiful flower indeed.

I like horseback riding too! I went horseback riding in Cabo San Lucas along the beach.

Where else have you gone horseback riding?

    Aloha (good bye),

    Chloe

  4. Your trip to Hawaii looked amazing! It looks like you had a ball! I really enjoyed the slideshow of your trip because we could see all the things that you liked. I liked the background music because it suited the pictures. That was a very talented dog that could surf. It would have been great to see turtles in the slideshow because turtles are the best!
    What is a humuhumunukunukuapua`as?

I would love to put a slideshow on my blog, how did you put that on there?

What was your favourite part of the trip?

We have never been on your blog but we come back! We are Year 5 students from Drysdale, Australia.

  5. In fact, Maui snorkeling is more popular than snorkeling on all the other Hawaiian islands. The reason Maui snorkeling is the best, is the proximity of Molokini, just 2 miles off the coast of Maui. Molokini is the most sought after snorkel location in Hawaii and certainly the most popular Maui snorkeling location.
